Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released its latest temporary residence processing time update, showing faster processing for several visa categories.
Work permit applications continue to improve, with in-Canada processing dropping to 129 days from 144 days. Super Visa applications from India also saw a significant improvement, with processing times reduced from 66 days to 50 days.
Study permit processing times increased slightly, rising by one week for applicants in Canada and India. Processing for study permits from India now stands at 5 weeks, while work permits remain at 9 weeks.
Visitor visa processing times improved modestly for applicants from Canada, India, and Pakistan, although wait times increased slightly for applicants from Nigeria and the United States.
IRCC emphasized that the published processing times are estimates rather than guarantees. The department aims to process most applications within its service standards, but actual timelines may vary depending on application volumes, operational capacity, background checks, and the complexity of individual cases.
Temporary residence processing times are updated every week, while permanent residence and citizenship processing times are updated monthly. Applicants are encouraged to check the latest processing times on the IRCC website before making travel, study, or work plans, as timelines can change from week to week.
