IRCC updates processing times for temporary residence applications
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released its latest estimated processing times for temporary residence applications, with updates effective August 26. The revised figures show notable changes for work permits, study permits, and super visas across several countries.
Among the key changes, work permit processing times improved by one week for applicants from Pakistan and the Philippines, offering faster decisions for workers seeking employment in Canada.
For international students, however, study permit processing times for applicants from India increased by two weeks, indicating longer wait times ahead of the upcoming academic intake.
Meanwhile, super visa processing times—which allow parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit Canada for extended periods—decreased by two weeks for applicants from Pakistan and the United States, reducing the expected wait for eligible families.
IRCC regularly updates its processing estimates based on current application volumes and departmental workload. The department notes that these are estimated processing times and actual timelines may vary depending on the complexity of an application, the completeness of submitted documents, and individual circumstances.
Applicants are encouraged to check the official IRCC processing time tool regularly, as estimates can change depending on demand and operational capacity.
